I finally got some fresh air today!! I took pictures of Harvard Square, my favorite part of Cambridge where I am the most comfortable. I became a tourist in my own town for a couple hours, which was interesting because I noticed things a little differently than I usually do. Boston/Cambridge is beautiful, I feel like I take it for granted sometimes. After living in Chicago for four and a half months, I am able to better appreciate Boston for some of it's more unique qualities, like how old it is, and how it feels like the city was grown organically. I am able to better appreciate Boston for it's unique personality, which is good and bad. Chicago is not riddled with hipster intellectuals and suffocating from the ego of old institutions like Boston is. I miss Chicago. But I love Boston and Cambridge. Especially Harvard Square, I've spent so much time there it's like an oasis of remembering. I am comfortable and at home there, even though it is in the middle of the city. It feels like it belongs to me.
Also check out this song its so cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9NF2edxy-M They're Canadienne!

I scratched my name into the window of the cafe Algiers bathroom like four years ago and its still there!

OBSERVE: The kid in the maroon hoodie with the black hat who is standing behind the guy with the white hat- His name is Josh and I went to high school with him and he is sooo creepy! I didn't even see him until I was looking through my pictures and he was looking straight at my camera in every picture that I took of the drummers. I sat next to this kid in spanish class my sophomore year. He drums with those guys, thats what he plans on doing for the rest of his life.

I was just looking at this beautiful full moon as well :)
ReplyDeleteHey, girl.
ReplyDeleteA well written post! Love your remark about Boston "suffocating" from the ego of old institutions--what a great thought! Nice photos....next week at this time you'll be in school again!
